Study in Sweden with a scholarship – Visby Scholarship

One of the most popular programs to study with a scholarship in Sweden is the Visby scholarship. The first issue begins with applying to the university. An aspiring student registers at universityadmissions.se and applies for the primary or majors appropriate to his field. The Visby scholarship is only awarded to majors on this list, meaning choosing a major and university is essential. At the same time, Visby officially notes that qualifications related to environmental and social sustainability, innovation, and responsibility in management or sustainable economic development are more critical. Application to universities for Visby opens on October 16 and continues until January 15 of the following year. The student must apply to the university between these dates and pay the “application fee” by February 3, the fee required for processing the student’s application.

Documents required for the scholarship program

Motivation letter: The student’s motivation is essential. The main point is that the student should relate the chosen specialty to his experience and education and be able to predict what positive results the master’s education will bring to him and others. In the motivation letter, you should also mention what contributions you can make to your country after you finish your studies in Sweden and return to your country.

Another issue is the reference letters to be written about the student. These letters should be written by people who know the student directly, ideally by their teachers. The content of a letter of recommendation does not have to be a letter of praise. It should be logically explained why this student’s qualification and scholarship are necessary. The letter should be a maximum of 2 pages, signed and stamped, and submitted in the form required by the Visby program.

Having work or leadership experience – The most important thing here is the applicant’s work experience. Work experience includes full-time and part-time employment, paid or unpaid internship programs, volunteer services, and student union and organization leadership positions. Previously, Visby did not restrict the length of work experience. However, in recent years, as the number of applicants to the program has increased, and competition has arisen, a minimum of 3,000 hours is required. The reference form from the workplace is available in the template form on the program’s official website. That form must be printed, filled, signed, and sealed by the management. Then, it should be uploaded to the system as a PDF file.

Passport – The scanned passport must clearly show the personal details (photo part). A copy of the passport must be included as the last, i.e., the fourth (if the CV will be three pages) page along with the CV.

Other documents – Language certificates and certificates proving achievements during or after studies vary depending on the program to which the candidate is applying. When applying to English-language programs, IELTS or TOEFL certificates are mainly required.
