Women are more interested in vocational training programs. Men dominate majors such as mathematics, computer science, and engineering. In order to overcome the existing gender diversity in this field, the government has developed a particular initiative program following the Action Plan of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. The main goal of this program is to give schools autonomy and improve the quality of education.

Attracting students to technical vocational education institutions is one of the priority issues in the country’s education system. However, specific initiatives have been taken in recent years, and special programs have been implemented to direct more high school graduates from technical vocational institutions to universities.

The Austrian government attaches particular importance to the application of modern technologies. Incorporating practical principles into training curricula has positive results. Multimedia and Internet connections are further developed to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas.
